Some new shipbuilding technologies are introduced for practical use in shipyards.

APPLICATION

Shell Unfolding or Expansion

The designed hull surface is unfolded or expanded into a flat plane, and it is fabricated to the designed shape through the cutting and bending processes. Our SNU algorithm provides stable results for all curved plates of a ship and has been proven to be superior in comparison with existing shipbuilding design software.

Our algorithm has been installed in the Smart3D, a shipbuilding design CAD of Intergraph (currently, Hexagon), and application to other CAD companies is in progress.

APPLICATION

Line heating Information for plate bending

Heating lines are required to make the designed curved plate by heating the flat plate. Instead of heating lines by experts’ experience, we calculated the heating line with an engineering-based algorithm. Our results were tested and proved by some Korean shipyards.

Samsung Heavy Industries adopted our algorithm and developed the automation machine (which won the Jang Young-sil Award, the best technology award in Korea), but unfortunately it is not currently used.

We are seeking shipyards that want to take advantage of this technology.

This machine is a device that automatically produces a curved plate using calculated heating information, such as heating line, order, and direction. It includes a heating and cooling module, a curved surface measurement module, a height sensor, and many other units.

Automatic Production of Single and Box-type Templates

Using our technology, you can easily produce single templates and box-type ones used for curved-surface measurement. Linked with ship CAD data, this algorithm and cutting machine can produce various templates automatically

Framework of Shipyard Diagnosis

APPLICATION

Diagnosis of Shipyards in view of Smartization

Smartization for the improvement of shipyards is continuously progressing. This diagnosis tool for shipyards can objectively diagnose the smart level of the shipyard and use the results to set improvement goals and check the improved results.

It has been applied to domestic and foreign shipyards, and it is the result of applying it to major shipyards.
